Pictures of Spain

Hi

I am learning how to post pics and to use this blog. The pictures below are in reverse chronological order with the pictures at the top of the blog from the end of my trip in Spain.

The orange bike below is just a strange bike I saw in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

The picture at the left is Luz, myself and Jean-Baptiste. We were in Santiago by ourselves as all of the others we travelled with hqad gone their own ways and we were left. This was just before Luz and Jean-Baptiste also left.

Jean-Baptiste is on the left. A very nice man from Paris who has invited me to visit him there and I hope that I am able to in a year or two

Myself with a new friend in Santiago

Luz with new friends

Luz, yesterday a pilgrim and tonight a tourist

the old streets of Santiago with the Cathedral in the distance

The last kilometres into Santiago walking next to the highway and a pulp mill (I think)

Me showing off my new haircut with my new old sunglasses (new lenses in a pair of decades old Ray-Bans)

I don't know what this is but I liked it and took a picture of it!

mules by the side of the Camino

Luz and Alicia walking the Camino

no hostel in town so the authorities found a place for us to stay in an equipment room of a sports facility. worked fine for us.

some of the camino was on roads but this was a detour we took

refilling our water bottles with a roadside fountain

I saw Luz walking ahead of me with her arm in the air and I wondered. She was recording bird song on her cell phone

oops - same as above

Luz, Alicia and Begonia in Neda on the coast

a Spanish police car in Lugo with a Roman city wall in the background

a sentinal alongside the camino

I wouldn't want anyone to think it was always sunny

a rainy day in northern Spain

the hostel was full so we were put up in a classroom with mattresses on the floor. I slept fine. Luz in the picture with David in the back.

Luz and Raoul starting down from a higher alternative route that provided amazing views

the Camino with Quico in the front and the rest of us spread out

Raoul, Luz, Maria, me, Merce, Quico, Alicia, David & Begonia

David, Maria, Luz and me at the ruins of an old refuge for pilgrims high in the mountains of Asturias

self-explanatory!

Begonia walking the Camino

the view early one morning. We usually got an early start.

A very nice guy. I got lost in a town looking for the hostel and asked three men who were talking the way. This guy could see that I didn't understand their directions so he took me by the sleeve and walked me to the hostel, buying me a drink along the way that he wouldn't let me pay for.

a fine view on the Camino Primitivo

rural scenery

walking the Camino

Pao walking into town with me. I thought I was helping him as he was restless by giving him something to do and he thought he was helping me buy something in town.

Quico clowning around one morning

Maria and Pao

Walking the Camino

Sharing a pot luck dinner at a hostel at the end of the first day walking. I ended up walking for many days with some of the people I met that evening and I am very glad I met them.

the Camino

In Oveido where I started the Camino there was a festival happening and this was a small child in a large plastic ball

Hello

I am not sure this is the best way to post a group of pictures but I tried to simply include a link to these pics on facebook with no luck so hear goes. I took many many pictures of my travels on two caminos in Spain and the wonderful people I met and travelled with but I am not posting all of those but only a small portion to show what it was like for any out there who might be interested in where I went and maybe going themselves one day.
